Two-Third Worldview

Phil Stone writes: 2/3 World View – The majority of people living in the under-developed world hold to this view of the world. These people 1) Acknowledge the existence of a Creator God, though they think that God is far off and uninterested in the everyday affairs of people. 2) Believe that the empirical world exists, but that it covers an inconsequential aspect of everyday affairs. 3) Believe that most events that happen in the world are the result of beings from the spiritual realm interacting in the created world. That spiritual realm includes dead ancestors, angels, demons, and all manner of related forces.

Five World Views

In the book Total Truth by Nancy Pearcy she states than in order to be professionally prepared to work in other cultures, the focus is almost entirely on world views. Additionally language learning, in the words of an international student, is considered only a preliminary step. In communicating effectively one needs to know the habits of thought in a culture. It is no accident, in the words of Pearcy, that Paul says:

Christians are called to be “ambassadors” for the heavenly King to an alien culture (2 Cor. 5:20).
