One-sentence summary

Children's missions curriculum to accompany From Akebu to Zapotec: A Book of Bibleless Peoples.

Description

This missions curriculum tells more about Bibleless people groups that are included in From Akebu to Zapotec. Each of the twenty-six groups is described seperately. There is information about the people, the land, and climate where they live. Each section has information, photos, and pictures to color of one or two of the wild animals that live in the area. Some sections are useful for older primary age children. This helps them better understand the world they live in. There is an introduction for teachers. A second introduction is for the children. A glossary of geographical new words is included. There is a list of people groups and their countries. There is also a list of people groups and the wild animals studied in that section.

This curriculum is for children who speak minority languages. It is also useful for children in the western world who have read and used the A to Z book.

Considerations

  • The Windows to Our World curriculum was written for children who speak minority languages. This might be the only Christian material they have.
  • The simple English script makes translation easier.
  • Sentences are short and words of few syllables are used.
  • These children need to be taught to pray for Bibleless peoples.
  • They need to learn more about language groups who have not heard about Jesus.
  • Each section needs to be downloaded separately. When there is no color printer available, a copy of the book would be useful.
  • Animal pictures may be printed in black and white but they will not look as realistic.

Limitations

  • Some of the people groups in this curriculum are from sensitive countries. Using material about them might cause trouble in some areas. Do not translate this material for these groups.
  • This curriculum may seem simple for western children. Their teacher/leader could add to the material to make it more challenging.
  • Some children will have crayons or colored pencils to use on the coloring pages. The pages can be sent home as reminders of the animals studied.

Guidelines for Use

  • Use as a missions/prayer guide in schools, home schools, Bible schools, camps, VBS, or neighborhood groups.
  • Use as a geography lesson.
  • Use as an audio cassette with pictures on flipcharts.
  • Use as radio programs.
