The Jesus Story
From SPARK
One-sentence summary
A 24 page book that tells about Jesus’ life in simple, easy to understand words.
Description
The Jesus Story tells the Gospel in simple language. Even young children can understand it. In twenty-four pages the story tells of Jesus' birth, life, and death. After three days, God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. Now he lives in Heaven. At the end it tells how to become a believer in Jesus.
Changes can be made to the story to make it easier to understand. One change would be for those who don't know their father. The reader can say that Jesus grew into a man like some adult that the child knows and respects. On the last page, the reader can use their own name instead of Poppa. Any other changes should be made to improve the understanding.
The end of the book tells how an adult can become a believer in Jesus. Bible verses are given as a guide.
This story is available as a book, as a VHS Video, or a DVD in English and Spanish.
Considerations
- The colored pictures are clear and help tell the story.
- The children in the pictures are from different people groups.
- The Bible verses are from the New King James Version.
Limitations
- Some colored pictures show only parts of Jesus' body. Other pictures show continuing action. These may confuse children who are not picture literate.
- The last page shows a man reading to three children in a North American home. This may confuse some children. This will need to be explained.
Guidelines for Use
- The pictures could be used as a flipchart for small groups.
- This would also make a good audio book.
