From SPARK
There are several ways for you to share. One is to simply make comments and suggestions under the comments and suggestions tab. Another is to share your experiences and stories in the case histories section. Another is to write articles and provide visuals and documents that can be downloaded.
SPARK is designed to promote the effective use of media and Christian resources. One way it does this is by eliminating, in most cases, the need for you to write the copyright owners in order to use the content. How? Almost all of SPARK's documents are licensed under Creative Commons.
Owners retain control
Often people have things they want to share with other missionaries or local Christians at low cost or no cost. However, they are concerned that if they make their intellectual property available on the Internet, they are going to:
- lose the ownership rights of their property
- lose control of the use of their intellectual property
- have their name associated with something that was modified without their permission.
If you have such concerns, we would like to ease your fears. This site attempts to make it easy for you to share your intellectual property without losing control or losing your rights. The materials on this site that are available for people to copy and download are protected by the Creative Commons license 3.0 unless otherwise stated.
The importance of materials being low-cost
The materials on this site will likely need to be translated or culturally adapted in order for oral people groups to make use of them. If the materials are free or almost free, this will encourage others to translate and adapt them. This website needs to offer as much as possible at low cost or even free of charge.
Privileges and responsibilities
If you are a potential user of resources located on this site, but are concerned about not violating copyrights, we hope to ease your fears also. We want to make it easy for you to make use of the information found on this site, but please be aware of your obligation to protect the intellectual property of those who have placed content on this site.
If you see information, materials, PowerPoint presentations, pictures, etc. on this site that you would like to use, you may freely use them unless specifically stated otherwise. If you want to duplicate and share these materials with others, the Creative Commons 3.0 license allows you to share them with others if you:
- give credit to its original creator or, if no name is given, put “From www.vernacularmedia.org.”
- do not sell it for profit, and
- put the same restrictions on your own resulting creation or copy.
For further details, see Copyright Issues.
Using a Creative Commons license
Placing scripts, images, and audio files on this site under the Creative Commons license not only benefits others but may benefit the owner with added opportunities. Since the suggested Creative Commons license is non-commercial, any translated work would be available to the original owner. The original owner and prospective producers can negotiate for commercial production rights.
Using the comments and suggestions tab
At the top of each web page, you will find a comments and suggestions tab. Please use it. This is the area to share your personal knowledge and experience related to its attached webpage. Please contribute helpful comments and suggestions. Put general site comments on the comments and suggestions tab of the Main Page or About SPARK page.
Caution concerning links to the Internet
Please be aware that some of the audience of SPARK will not have Internet access. We hope to be able to make most of the content available on a CD or DVD. Therefore, where it's an equal choice between a link outside of SPARK or entering the content, please choose to enter the content directly.
What you can do now
- Request an ID and password so you can add your content. Request a SPARK Account
