One-sentence summary

Over 2200 high quality, realistic illustrations that will bring to life Bible stories from creation to Revelation are now available for VMS to use in minority language groups. (Also known as Read 'n Grow Picture Bible Illustrations, Read and Grow Picture Bible Illustrations, and Read-n-Grow Picture Bible Illustrations.)

Description

Jim Padgett created illustrations for over 200 Bible stories. The Read‘n Grow Picture Bible contains his illustrations for 156 of these stories. In addition, there are illustrations for 53 other stories that were not included in the picture bible. There are 12 illustrations for almost every story. The illustrations are high quality, generally accurate, and very realistic.

Considerations

The illustrations are generally realistic and culturally accurate, supporting the reality of the stories and bringing them to life. They can be used to enhance communication of Bible stories in either written or audio forms.

Limitations

The illustrations were painted as windows of scenes, resulting in many pictures that only show a portion of the body of people (the borders cutting off the view of the rest of the body). This might be a problem for using them for storytelling in some cultures. Early illustrations with Adam and Eve are too Caucasian looking. This is less evident in the later pictures. See the review of Read'n Grow Picture Bible for other specific limitations.
