One-sentence summary

Children's story based on the experiences of Dr. Paul White in Africa.

Description

This title in the Jungle Doctor series for children begins with a short biography of Dr. Paul White. There is information about Tanzania, East Africa and the three most common plagues. Important words and characters are also included. The book has 149 pages and 16 chapters. Each chapter has black and white drawings that help tell the story.

This story features Dr. Paul White. He and other workers at Mvumi Hospital in Tanzania give medicine to cure the body and share the good news of Jesus.

This book tells about an unknown illness that is killing people in a certain village. “What is this disease that is more powerful than an angry elephant, more terrifying than a mighty leopard, and more deadly than a roaring lion?” The hospital staff discover that it is the deadly bubonic plague. It can kill millions of people. To decrease the illness, they killed rats and fleas that carry the disease.

The workers use stories and songs to explain Bible truths. Because this is the cultural way of sharing information and teaching new things, many African villagers no longer trust the witch doctor. Instead the decide to trust and obey Jesus.
