Description

More than one theme is interwoven into this story. It is about workers at Mvumi Hospital, in Tanzania East Africa who treat physical and spiritual sicknesses. Many activities are going on at the hospital. People are worried because a trouble-maker, makes threats, and a killer lion is on the prowl. But the jungle doctor continues to perform difficult operations. During this time there is a little boy with a twisted face, a crooked back, and a smiling dog who teaches both hospital workers and patients about the meaning of courage.

Christian workers use stories and hospital activities to tell the good news of Jesus to those who struggle with physical sickness and spiritual sickness.

Considerations

  • This story would be best for children 8-12 years old.
  • The book has 129 pages and includes the first chapter of the story called Jungle Doctor and the Whirlwind.
  • Black and white drawings help tell the story.
  • This story is useful for African children but also of interest to children in most countries.
