One-sentence summary
A biographical history for children about Christians who lived from 1700-1860 A.D.
Description
For the first 1700 years of the Christian church, God's people established Christian teaching and secured their freedom to worship. This book teaches children how believing in Jesus should change their opinions of other people.
Children learn about those who led the First and Second Great Awakenings in the 18th and 19th centuries. They will learn about the United States preacher who started a national revival in his small church. They will learn about the rich English politician and the former slave woman who helped end slavery in England and the United States. This book contains stories of the missionaries who began Christian communities in China, India and Africa.
From John Wesley and Jonathan Edwards to Elizabeth Fry and Sojourner Truth, God used tender hearts and strong hands of His people to teach about God's mercy.
Some chapters are about social reform, the French and American Revolutions, and the rise of Protestant denominations.
