A daily devotional for families or classroom use from the Bible's book of Proverbs.

Description

This is a year of daily devotions based the wisdom of Proverbs. Parents and children spend time talking about what Proverbs teaches about wisdom. They learn how to apply that wisdom to daily life. God's Book of Wisdom can also be used in the elementary classroom.

Each week begins with an overview of the main theme for that week. There is a Bible verse to learn which follows the main theme.

For each day there are Bible verses, followed by an explanation of what the verses mean. The next part helps children consider what they need to do to become more like Jesus. A prayer is included to teach children, that it is important to talk with God. They learn to ask God for forgiveness. They learn to thank Him for saving them from sin. They are taught to ask God to help them do what is right.

The themes teach children to:

• Fear God
• Be careful of their thoughts
• Obey their parents
• Select their friends carefully
• Control their desires
• Enjoy only their own husband or wife, when they marry
• Be careful what they say
• To be honest at their work
• Use their money wisely
• Love their neighbors
• Wisdom is not just how smart you are
• Wisdom includes what we know and do, and also what we don't do.
• Live a life that is pleasing to God

The book also reminds children who have not made the decision to believe in Jesus, about their need to believe in Him.

• The book has 432 pages.
• It helps familes study the whole book of Proverbs.
• For children ages 8-12 years old.
• Bible verses are from The New International Version of the Bible (NIV).

Limitations

• The book has no pictures. This helps children carefully think about what is being taught.

• In schools and Christian schools
• On Christian radio as a time of family devotions.
• In churches for a year's study of Proverbs.
• Families could get the verses and discussion questions on cassettes or CD, to use in family devotions.
