Description

Bread Wrapper Invitation

The Bread Wrapper has the BOL logo on one side and an invitation to learn the Old Testament stories, the radio station call letters, date and time the stories are aired, a list of all fourteen stories and contact information for the evangelists/distributors of the BOL.

Free Old Testament Stories

One million Bread Wrappers were printed on newsprint in the Sereer Sine language and distributed in rural open-air markets by simply offering these clean stacks of newsprint paper to the bread sellers free of charge. These bread sellers gladly accepted the wrappers and agreed to inform each person buying the bread that the wrapper could be redeemed at the nearby BOL table for valuable gifts. The person with the newly acquired bread wrapper would then come to the table manned by the Sereer evangelists/distributors. They would be informed of the nature of the gift which was the first Bread of Life Old Testament story, also printed on newsprint in “weekly reader style” format.

Stories to Church plant

The evangelist would sign up each interested person by listing their name, their village and their household name. They would be given the story and instructed to learn that story well enough to recite it and teach it to all of their household and or village. Each week they could receive another story by simply telling the evangelist that they had learned the preceding story and sometimes reciting it for the evangelist. When all fourteen stories had been learned this person was awarded the Jesus Film in their village, a cassette player/radio and a set of discipleship tapes. After the viewing of the Jesus Film if members of the household professed Christ they were invited to begin Bible studies in their household. This would be the embryo of planting a church.

Evaluation

From the compiled data of the evangelists sign up book we could quickly recognize villages and areas with many people open to the gospel message.
